The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) announced the opening of registrations for the selection of civil society representatives who will join the National Energy Transition Forum (Fonte) in the 2025/2026 biennium. Fonte Resolution No. 1/2025, published in the Official Gazette of the Union on January 15, details the public election process and the selection criteria.
The Forum, which has a consultative and permanent nature, is a pillar of the National Energy Transition Policy (PNTE) and seeks to increase social participation in the formulation of energy policies in Brazil. The plenary will be composed of 87 members, divided equally between the government, the productive sector and civil society, ensuring a parity and representative structure.

Among the selection criteria, the notice establishes significant advances in inclusion and diversity, with the requirement that at least 30% of the representatives be self-declared black, indigenous or quilombola people, in addition to a minimum of 50% women. The registration period will be from January 27 to February 16, 2025, and the elections will take place via videoconference on April 15. To clarify doubts, the MME will hold a webinar on January 30, encouraging the participation of interested institutions.
With 29 seats allocated to civil society, elected representatives will address issues such as biofuels, climate change, traditional peoples and consumers, reinforcing the commitment to an inclusive and democratic energy transition.
Information webinar
On January 30, the MME will hold a webinar providing more information and clarifications about the selection process and the role of the National Energy Transition Forum. Interested institutions are encouraged to participate to better understand the process and its implications. The link to the webinar will also be published on the Fonte Plenary website.
