The project entitled “Impacts of Climate Change on the Planning of Electric Power Generation” is part of the actions of the Brazil-Germany Cooperation for Sustainable Development, through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, with resources from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ). The study will be developed in partnership with the consortium formed by PSR and Tempo OK.
The study will simulate the impacts of future climate change scenarios on the Brazilian electricity system, analyzing, for example, how changes in precipitation, temperature, solar radiation and wind variables could impact the planning and operation of the Brazilian electricity grid . Climate projections from models by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and projections by the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) and the National Water and Sanitation Agency (ANA) will be used as resources.
