The Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan) held a landmark event for the industrial sector: the launch of the publication “Petrochemicals and Fertilizers in Rio de Janeiro” , which explores growth opportunities and strategic investments in these markets in the state. The meeting, held at Firjan’s headquarters in downtown Rio de Janeiro, brought together representatives from the government, academia and the production sector for an exclusive breakfast to discuss the future of these segments that are crucial to the regional economy.
Publication presents opportunities and challenges in the sector
The publication offers a detailed overview of the petrochemical and fertilizer markets, highlighting Rio de Janeiro's role as a strategic hub for these sectors in Brazil . In addition to highlighting investment opportunities, the material addresses the state's favorable conditions, such as its infrastructure, proximity to large consumer markets and access to essential raw materials.
During the event, experts such as Pedro Veillard , superintendent of New Economies at the Secretariat of Economic Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (SEDEICS-RJ), and Giovanni Bressiani , researcher at the SENAI Institute of Innovation in Green Chemistry, presented the main conclusions of the publication. Among the highlighted themes was the potential for sustainable growth of these sectors, especially in the context of energy transition and technological advances.
Cross-sector collaboration as the foundation of development
The event also highlighted the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors for the development of the petrochemical and fertilizer market in Rio de Janeiro. Rodrigo Ferreira Vianna , Secretary of Economic Development of Macaé, highlighted the city’s strategic role as a hub for the fertilizer and petrochemical production chain.
Another key point was the work of the SENAI Institute of Green Chemistry , which has positioned itself as a reference in research and innovation, pointing out ways to make the sector more competitive and sustainable. Luiz Césio Caetano , president of Firjan, opened the event by emphasizing the need for a stable regulatory environment and investment incentives as drivers to transform Rio de Janeiro into a national leader in these segments.
