HYDROGEN EXPO South America: Rio de Janeiro debates hydrogen and energy transition

On June 11 and 12, 2025, EXPO MAG, in Rio de Janeiro, became the Latin American epicenter of energy innovation with the HYDROGEN EXPO South America. In its most recent edition, the event established itself as the largest and most comprehensive meeting dedicated to the hydrogen production chain and decarbonization in Brazil — bringing together companies, experts, policymakers and investors under one roof.

With a high-level technical congress and a business fair with a significant presence of national and international exhibitors, HYDROGEN EXPO stands out for presenting concrete and viable solutions to boost the hydrogen sector in the country. The highlights were the latest technologies aimed at the production, transportation, storage and use of hydrogen — a central element of the low-carbon energy matrix that Brazil intends to lead in the coming decades.

Since its debut in 2023, when it hosted the launch of the “Brazilian Pact for Renewable Hydrogen” — a political milestone that supported the development of the current Legal Framework for Sustainable Hydrogen — the event has played a fundamental role in the articulation between government, industry and science. This first initiative, promoted in partnership with leaders from ABEEólica, ABSOLAR and ABIOGÁS, is now reflected in public policies that drive investments and position Brazil as a strategic destination in the global energy transition scenario.

A complete ecosystem of innovation and business for decarbonization

Among the event's distinguishing features is the strategic partnership with AHK-RJ (German Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Rio de Janeiro) and CCS Brasil (Brazilian Association for Carbon Capture and Storage), in addition to the support of key entities such as ABIHV, ABIMAQ and chambers of commerce from countries that are leaders in climate innovation, such as the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France and Norway.

In parallel, CARBON CAPTURE EXPO South America further expands the initiative's reach, as it is the only event dedicated exclusively to the carbon capture, storage and utilization chain — technologies that are increasingly relevant for industries seeking to mitigate emissions without compromising their competitiveness.

The combination of these two events offers an environment for integration between technology, market and public policy focused on the energy transition in South America, highlighting Brazil's leading role and global commitment.
