Guiding Actions Notebook: a milestone for energy efficiency in Brazil

The search for greater energy efficiency has become a strategic priority for Brazil, aligned with global sustainability and carbon emissions reduction goals. In this context, the Energy Research Company (EPE) and the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) launched the Guiding Actions Booklet for the Advancement of Energy Efficiency in Brazil , a comprehensive document that brings together concepts, indicators and strategies to promote the intelligent and sustainable use of energy in various sectors of the national economy.

Strategies and governance for energy efficiency

The Booklet presents the theoretical and practical foundations of energy efficiency, highlighting the main concepts and indicators that guide public policies and initiatives in the sector. In addition, it maps current governance, detailing the actions already carried out at the national level to promote the rational use of energy .

Among the efforts highlighted are the activities and studies conducted by EPE in partnership with other institutions, which have generated valuable input for the country's energy planning. These actions reinforce the importance of robust and integrated governance, capable of aligning the different spheres of government and the private sector in promoting a more efficient and sustainable economy.

Sectoral focus: proposals for industry, buildings and transport

The document also proposes specific actions for the industry, buildings and transportation sectors, areas that account for a large part of the country's energy consumption . In the industry sector, the initiatives include modernizing processes and encouraging the use of more efficient technologies. In the buildings sector, the focus is on promoting sustainable construction and improving technical standards, such as efficiency in air conditioning and lighting systems.

In the transportation segment, the Notebook suggests measures aimed at reducing the consumption of fossil fuels, such as encouraging public transportation and the use of electric and hybrid vehicles . These actions are considered crucial to reducing the energy intensity of the sector, which is responsible for a significant portion of greenhouse gas emissions in Brazil.
