The Chamber of Deputies approved, this Wednesday (11/9), the Fuel of the Future (PL 528/2020), a project that establishes important guidelines for the development of sustainable fuels in Brazil, marking a significant advance towards a cleaner energy future. Minister Alexandre Silveira celebrated the approval of the project, presented by the Ministry of Mines and Energy in September 2023, which now awaits President Lula's sanction.
The proposal, also approved by the Federal Senate, creates a series of initiatives to promote decarbonization, sustainable mobility and energy transition in Brazil. Among them are the implementation of the National Green Diesel Program (PNDV), the National Aviation Biokerosene Program (ProBioQAV) and the National Program for Decarbonization of Natural Gas Producers and Importers and for Incentive to Biomethane, in addition to the creation of the legal framework for the capture and geological storage of carbon dioxide (CCS).
