The Energy Management System (EMS) is a set of procedures and activities implemented by any type of organization, whether industrial, commercial, administrative or service, in its daily routine to make energy consumption more efficient and, thus, promote a reduction in total energy consumption. The result of this appears in the form of financial savings and also a reduction in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions.
THE ISO 50.001 standard offers a practical tool for organizations to implement a well-structured EMS in accordance with their reality, guiding the implementation, maintenance, review and improvement of the EMS. The standard also provides guidelines on safety, performance and energy efficiency and can be applied by any organization, regardless of geographic factors or their size, sector of activity and products or services offered.
