Connex-E Summit Preparatory 2024: Driving the Future of New Energy Frontiers in Brazil

The Connex-E Summit Preparatory 2024, promoted by the Organization of Oil Producing Municipalities (Ompetro) with support from Firjan , is consolidating itself as a milestone in the debate on Brazil's energy future. The event, which takes place on December 3, will bring together experts, businesspeople, researchers and authorities to discuss the challenges and advances that will shape Brazil's energy matrix in the coming years.

With a focus on innovation and sustainability, the meeting highlighted strategic themes such as new frontiers in oil and gas exploration, renewable energy, biofuels and green hydrogen. The diverse program included high-impact panels and networking sessions, connecting key players in the sector.

Oil and gas debates: challenges and new frontiers

The event began with a panel on Petrobras’ 50 years in the Campos Basin , a milestone for the oil and gas industry in Brazil. The debate, moderated by Firjan, brought perspectives on new business and the importance of the region as a central hub for national hydrocarbon production. Representatives from Petrobras, IBP, Porto do Açu and other strategic entities participated.

Another highlight was the session “Rio 2050: new frontiers in oil, gas and energy development” , which addressed the state’s role in diversifying the energy matrix and developing innovative projects. With the participation of leaders such as the Brazilian Association of Independent Oil and Gas Producers (ABPIP) and the Petro BC Network, the panel reinforced the long-term vision to consolidate Rio de Janeiro as a global energy hub.

Innovation and energy transition in focus

The afternoon was marked by discussions on technological innovations and the progress of the energy transition in Brazil. Panels such as “Technological innovations for the energy sector in Rio de Janeiro” and “Energy transition and new production matrix” brought insights into renewable sources, including solar energy, wind energy, biofuels and the promising green hydrogen market.

These sessions will bring together representatives from entities such as ABEEólica, ABSOLAR and the Brazilian Hydrogen Association (ABH2), as well as companies and institutions such as Sebrae, Tec Incubadora and COAGRO . The discussions highlighted investment opportunities in emerging technologies and the public policies needed to drive sustainability in the sector.
