On November 4th and 5th, 2024 , the city of São Paulo will host the Carbonless Summit , an event of great importance for the energy and environmental sector. Organized by CCS Brasil and Hidroplan , the meeting will bring together experts in carbon capture and storage, as well as policymakers and representatives of key industries, to discuss strategic solutions aimed at mitigating CO2 emissions and combating climate change.
Geological storage of CO2 , which involves injecting the gas into deep reservoirs, is widely recognized as one of the most effective ways of permanently removing carbon from the atmosphere. This process plays a crucial role in reducing the adverse impacts of global warming as the world seeks to meet sustainability and carbon neutrality goals.
One of the highlights of the Carbonless Summit 2024 will be the potential of the biofuels industry in carbon absorption and capture. The event will provide a platform to connect technical experts, policymakers and decision-makers , creating opportunities to accelerate the implementation of innovative technologies and stimulate partnerships between the public and private sectors.

The importance of the carbon capture and storage sector
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is a key technology in the fight against climate change, as it enables the efficient removal of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere, mitigating the effects of global warming. The process involves capturing CO2 from industrial and energy sources before it is released into the air, followed by storing it in deep geological reservoirs, where it remains permanently isolated. It is a crucial activity for achieving carbon neutrality goals, as it offers a practical solution for reducing emissions in hard-to-decarbonize sectors, such as heavy industry, while enabling the transition to a low-carbon economy.
With a growing market, the event positions itself as a strategic initiative to strengthen Brazil's role in the global energy transition, promoting a more sustainable and resilient future for the planet.
