Bloomberg will maintain his support for the “America Is In” coalition working to secure a U.S. commitment to reduce its emissions 61 to 66 percent below 2005 levels by 2025.


For the second time in history, due to the decision of the US federal government to abandon the Paris Agreement , UN special envoy Michael Bloomberg announced on January 23 coordinated efforts by cities, states and private sector organizations, as well as individuals, to fulfill the United States' commitments to the international community in support of global climate ambitions.

The announcement also cites research from the University of Maryland's Center for Global Sustainability that shows that actions by U.S. cities, states, companies and other institutions could help the country reduce its emissions by 54 to 62 percent by 2035 , even without federal action.
